Welcome to the world of Edgar Allan Poe, as retold by Ellen Robbins. This month we’re representing “The Pit and the Pendulum.” This chilling short story is one of Poe’s only works without any supernatural aspect at all. Instead, the horror is felt in very real terms, in the darkness of a prison, surrounded by rats and a slowly descending blade. Thankfully, it’s also one of the few with an arguably happy ending. Ellen has chosen to depict this dark tale on four gorgeous draft horses in deep silvery tones, with both realistic and decorator versions.
Pit is a fiercely grumpy Standing Drafter, customized by Melanie Miller with pinned ears, a tightly swishing tail, a full, loose mane and loose forelock between his eyes. Ellen gave him a richly shaded blue roan coat with subtle dappling and a striking snip that evokes the image of the pendulum in Poe’s story. He is a run of 8, finished in matte with additional finish options offered.
Our June Year with Poe large scale models are pre-orders scheduled to be produced this summer per your finish selections, and the Chips are ready to ship now.
